The dog is guarding the door for people, helping in many jobs, bringing joy to the owner, so it is considered as the animal that brings good luck and goodness. The Vietnamese proverb: “It is difficult for a cat to come into the house, if a dog comes in,” is what says this. If the dog helps keep the housekeeper, the dog statue will kick back to ward off evil spirits, miasma or other misfortunes.
